Ongoing illness Help!

Has anyone had an illness that the doctors don’t even know what’s wrong with you? Well I’ve been having these dizzy turns for about thirteen years now and I’ve been in and out of the doctors and even the hospital because sometimes I pass out when I take one. But all the doctors tell me is that it’s my age or my hormones but it can’t be that if it’s been going on for so long. I usually take one if I’m too hot or if I walk to far sometimes I can’t even walk five minutes down to the shop without taking one and they are starting to ruin my life. I went on holiday with my Nana and I was there for two weeks and I had three of them and I was suppose to be going away to Florida next year for three weeks. I was really looking forward to it but with all the dizzy turns that I take it has put me of going and it has kind of upset me a bit. My fiancé was really looking for to it and now he is disappointed I told him to still go with his sister and nephew but he said that he wouldn’t go without me. I can’t even work because I have already lost about five jobs because when I take a dizzy turn I have to go home and go to my bed but then when I wake up after a couple of hours it’s gone. The scariest part of it all is that sometimes I pass out and I get scared just in case it’s in the middle of a road I don’t even like going on buses on my own. I’ve passed out quite a few times and no one notices until the bus reaches the end of it’s route and then I end up having to go to the hospital but still no one knows the reason why I take these dizzy turns. If anyone has the same problem and knows why I take them please let me know I would really appreciate it.

  1. Obviously you have something seriously wrong. It could be as simple as stress, and maybe you need an anti anxiety. But it could also be a heart, or brain condition. Have you had an echo of your heart, or a CT of your brain, MRI is even better. If you are just seeing an ER doctor, or general physician you may want to request a referral to a specialist.

  2. Two things you might want to be checked for. One is a heart murmur. Even a slight heart murmur leads to pain and dizziness when it acts up. I've had one since I was a pre teen. When it skips beats, it leaves me light headed. The second thing is either diabetes or hypoglycemia. I have hypoglycemia. Whenever my blood sugar is too low, I get the black dots in front of my eyes, dizziness, and if I don't get sugar I will pass out. No matter what, its time for you to get yourself a new doctor and not give up until you get this figured out. Good Luck to you.

  3. I agree wit Melissa. Get a referral and don't stop until you have an answer. I had a bout with dizziness some years ago. My doctor did bloodwork and learned that I was hypo-glycemic. Eat carbs, she said. So I did and I was better. Everyone's situation is different but sometimes if you are not tenacious you will not get an answer. Now get on the phone!

  4. I agree with everyone. It could be panic attacks. The more you worry about them the worse they will get. Also a possible inner ear thing. It gets off balance and causes the same thing. I use to get them. Dizzy, light headed sick to my stomache, blurred vision, the feeling of passing out. The first thing I did was go to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor and eliminate that problem.
I stii get it but no way near as severe.

  5. Sounds to me like you should also have a neurological workup, I have Epilepsy and it's possible you might be having some type of seizure. Good luck!

  6. It could also be as simple as dehydration. You'll know pretty quick if it is, if you drink an extra quart or 2 of water every day.

Another thing it could be is a lack of oxygen, caused by shallow breathing. When you feel dizzy, take a few long deep breaths and see if you feel better.

Anything beyond those 2 possibilities requires working with doctors to track down the cause.

  7. Yep, I agree with all the above. Blacking out while driving is serious. You need to pursue this and not give up until you figure it out.

  8. I don't have any advice. It sounds so scary, I hope you get this figured out, I can't imagine what this must be like. Hugs to you.
